THE INTERFACES OF GROUNDWORK

Groundwork includes anything that helps us become aware of, and take possession of, the conditions, or grounds, of our experience. Is it therapy? Is it politics? Is it philosophy? Groundwork rejects all classical, medical, academic or bureaucratic labels. Groundwork touches upon almost everything.

Groundwork has an interface with therapy

Groundwork helps us find the hidden grounds of our experience. It brings awareness. It helps the psyche to shift, to re-integrate, to grow, to heal itself. So the result of Groundwork is naturally therapeutic.

Groundwork has an interface with creativity

Groundwork helps us find the mystery of ourselves, and releases creative energy (eros). The energy of creation, of love, of art, of relatedness. Through Groundwork, we can find the energy and inspiration to build our lives more as we want them to be.

Groundwork has an interface with psychodrama

Groundwork asks us to consider ourselves as actors who have been given roles, scripts, dialogues, emotions, fellow cast members, sets and a stage. Groundwork psychodrama lets us move out of our normal role, and explore roles that may be mysterious to us, fearsome to us, or roles that may be much more to our liking.

Groundwork has an interface with bodywork

Groundwork includes the body as the physical ground of our emotions, our heart, our dreams, our inspiration, our fears, our anger. Groundwork lets us experience what our bodies hold, suffer with, dream of, dance with.

Groundwork has an interface with philosophy

Groundwork believes that our lives must have meaning. The question of meaning is absent from many therapies, but is central to Groundwork. Groundwork believes that the history of philosophy is the quest for man’s meaning in the universe. Our thinking minds can and must take part in the Groundwork process.

Groundwork has an interface with politics

Groundwork believes that the human situation is conditioned by economic, social, political and cultural forces at work around us. Big business, mass media and politicians impact the way we think and feel. Groundwork is interested in freeing the human psyche from manipulative systems, so that we as humans can dream, build, and live a better future. Groundwork is liberation.
